Cory Steere, Principal SRS

Welcome to Sea Road School!

Affectionately known as SRS, our school is a vibrant and distinguished intermediate elementary school located in the seaside community of Kennebunk, Maine. Serving 300 third, fourth, and fifth-grade students, SRS is one of four elementary schools in Regional School Unit 21. We are proud of our long tradition of excellence and our commitment to fostering curiosity, responsibility, and compassion. At SRS, individual strengths are celebrated, affinities are nurtured, and each student is supported in reaching personal goals while contributing meaningfully to the larger school community.

Our school culture is built on inclusivity and opportunity. By providing a safe, nurturing environment that supports the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of every child, we create a positive atmosphere where all learners can thrive. With 1:1 Chromebook access and interactive whiteboards in every classroom, teachers deliver engaging, 21st-century instruction in literacy, math, science, and social studies. In addition, all students participate in Allied Arts classes, including art, music, physical education, library, STEM, and Spanish - broadening their skills and perspectives.

We are deeply proud of our academic success, balanced with a culture of care and community. SRS was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2016, and each year our students perform well above the state average on the Maine Educational Assessment (MEA) in English Language Arts and Mathematics. NWEA assessment results consistently show that SRS students outperform national norms. Our support systems, including a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), guidance and social work services, and Special Education programming, ensure that every child has what they need to grow.

Our work is strengthened by the generous support of the SRS Parent Teacher Association and the Education Foundation of the Kennebunks and Arundel. These partnerships help fund field trips, artists-in-residence, special events, and enhanced academic programs that enrich our students’ school experience.

We would love to welcome you in person. Please contact us if you’d like a tour of SRS and the chance to see firsthand what makes our school such a special place to learn and grow.
